Added Specialty Area

Program Overview: Added Specialty Area

The Education Specialist program design is modified and accelerated for candidates who already hold a Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Education Specialist Credential and would like to add the alternate specialty area.  These interns receive support from two educators identified as Support Providers: a site mentor who is currently teaching in the field (P-12) and a practicum supervisor. Both Support Providers hold credentials in the same authorization area as the intern and support is made available in the classroom on an ongoing basis.

The program spans one year of coursework and Practicum fieldwork. Candidates are provided monthly support until the completion of the program. Please see requirements below:

Candidates must

  • Complete one of the following courses dependent on alternate specialty area being added (face-to-face course delivery is one night per week at RCOE main)
